My work is an absurd construction of dialogue. I use the traditional, often figurative and romantic notions of beauty in painting as separate materials within an experience. This converses and elevates the quotidian in my work. There is a drama that occurs when you put the plasticity of everyday consumer objects at the same table with the aura of historical painting. It shows the glory of the past mashed with the easy indifference of the present. This is funny to me. Currently, it is the illogical and absurd narrative between; a really sensual oil paining, store bought tennis balls, duct tape and concrete that I am currently interested in. *Notes The color pink – I consider the color pink as bodily. It then becomes sensual, gross and dramatic and I try to use it as such. Text – The text puts the viewer in a position where they can become part of the work. The ”reader” becomes the performer of a piece and therefore intertwined with the compositional elements.
